1. Overview

G-Time Tracker is a Google Calendar Add-on that helps users track time spent on tasks by creating and managing calendar events. The add-on is built with Google Apps Script and runs entirely within the Google Workspace environment.

2. Data We Access

To provide its functionality, G-Time Tracker requests the following Google API permissions:

3. How We Use Your Data

G-Time Tracker uses your data exclusively to provide the add-on’s core functionality:

  • Calendar events are read to display your existing time entries
  • Calendar events are created or updated when you start or stop time tracking
  • Your locale setting is used solely for correct date and time formatting within the UI
  • Anonymous usage data (button clicks, feature usage) is sent to Google Analytics to help us improve the add-on. No personal data, no calendar content, and no event details are included in these analytics calls.

4. Data Storage

G-Time Tracker stores user preferences (such as project names and settings) using Google Apps Script’s Properties Service. This data is stored securely within Google’s infrastructure and is associated with your Google account. No data is stored on external servers owned or operated by the developer.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal data or calendar information with any third parties. The only external service we communicate with is Google Analytics, and only with anonymous, non-personal usage statistics.

6. Limited Use Policy

G-Time Tracker’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the add-on’s core functionality.

7. Data Retention

Calendar events created by G-Time Tracker remain in your Google Calendar and are subject to your own Google account’s retention settings. User preferences stored via the Properties Service are retained until you uninstall the add-on or revoke its permissions. You can remove all stored preferences by uninstalling the add-on from your Google Account.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data by inspecting your Google Calendar
  • Delete: Remove calendar events at any time via Google Calendar
  • Revoke access: Remove the add-on and all associated permissions via your Google Account permissions page

9. Security

G-Time Tracker runs entirely within Google’s Apps Script infrastructure. We rely on Google’s security measures to protect your data. The add-on does not transmit calendar data to any external server and does not store credentials.

G-Time Tracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Getting Started

🚀 Installation

  1. Open Google Workspace Marketplace
  2. Search for „G-Time Tracker“
  3. Click Install and grant the requested permissions
  4. Open Google Calendar – the add-on panel appears on the right side

⏱ How to Track Time

  1. Open Google Calendar in your browser
  2. Click the G-Time Tracker icon in the right sidebar
  3. Select a project (optional) and enter a task description
  4. Click Start to begin tracking
  5. Click Stop when you’re done – an event is saved to your calendar

Frequently Asked Questions

The add-on panel is not visible in Google Calendar

Try the following steps:

  • Refresh the Google Calendar page (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R)
  • Make sure you are using Google Calendar in a web browser (not the mobile app)
  • Check that the add-on is installed: Go to your Google Account permissions and verify G-Time Tracker is listed
  • Try a different browser or disable browser extensions temporarily
My time entries are not being saved to the calendar

This is usually a permissions issue. Please:

  • Uninstall the add-on from your Google Account
  • Reinstall it from the Marketplace
  • Make sure to grant all requested permissions during installation, including calendar access
How do I manage my projects?

You can add, edit, and delete projects directly within the add-on panel in Google Calendar. Open the add-on sidebar and navigate to the Projects section to manage your project list.

Can I edit the start or end time after tracking?

Yes! G-Time Tracker allows you to set an alternative date and time when starting or stopping a task. You can also edit the resulting calendar event directly in Google Calendar like any other event.

I get an „Authorization required“ error

Click the „Authorize“ or „Continue“ button when prompted. If the error persists:

How do I uninstall G-Time Tracker?

To uninstall the add-on:

  • Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions
  • Find G-Time Tracker and click Remove Access
  • Or uninstall via the Google Workspace Marketplace: search for the add-on and click Uninstall

Note: Uninstalling will remove the add-on and all stored settings. Your calendar events created by the add-on will remain in Google Calendar.

Which browsers are supported?

G-Time Tracker works in all browsers that support Google Calendar, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. For the best experience, we recommend Google Chrome.

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the G-Time Tracker Google Calendar Add-on. By installing or using the add-on, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using G-Time Tracker („the Add-on“), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service („Terms“). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Add-on. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Helmuth Lammer („Developer“).

2. Description of Service

G-Time Tracker is a Google Calendar Add-on that enables users to:

  • Track time spent on tasks by creating calendar events
  • Start and stop time tracking with a single click
  • Manage projects and associate tasks with project names
  • Add notes and descriptions to tracked time entries
  • Adjust start and end times retroactively

The Add-on is built using Google Apps Script and operates within the Google Workspace environment.

3. License

The Developer grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Add-on for your personal or internal business purposes. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the Add-on’s source code
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code
  • Use the Add-on to build a competing product
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices

4. Pricing and Payment

The current version of G-Time Tracker is available free of charge. The Developer reserves the right to introduce paid features or change the pricing model in the future. Any such changes will be communicated to users in advance. Continued use after pricing changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing terms.

5. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your Google account
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Ensuring your use of the Add-on complies with applicable laws
  • Using the Add-on only for lawful purposes

6. Google Workspace Requirements

G-Time Tracker requires a valid Google account and access to Google Calendar. Your use of Google services is subject to Google’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The Developer is not responsible for changes to Google’s services that may affect the Add-on’s functionality.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Add-on is provided „AS IS“ and „AS AVAILABLE“ without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. The Developer does not warrant that the Add-on will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. The Developer does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any reports or data generated by the Add-on.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Add-on. The Developer’s total liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Add-on in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Intellectual Property

The Add-on, including its code, design, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Helmuth Lammer. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by the Developer.

10. Termination

These Terms are effective until terminated. You may terminate your use of the Add-on at any time by uninstalling it from your Google account. The Developer may suspend or terminate your access to the Add-on at any time, for any reason, without notice. Upon termination, all licenses granted under these Terms will immediately cease.

11. Changes to Terms

The Developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of the Add-on after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Austria, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Austria.
